Suzuki XL6 Launched in South Africa

By: Rebaneilwe Semakane and Blessing Mkhabela

We spent a lovely two days with the Suzuki family, launching the new XL6 in Gauteng and the North West. A short, spritely drive is what we embarked on, and our overnight stop was at La Joya Conference and Wellness Spa just around Pelindaba.

Here is all you need to know about this new offering.

The model has a length of 4.445 metres and a stretched wheelbase of 2.74 metres. This has
allowed Suzuki to add six seats inside. These seats are configured in two individual front and two
individual middle seats, with a bench seat placed in the third row. Each row has two three-point
seatbelts and separate head restraints. Each seat in the front and middle row can slide and recline,
with the driver’s seat also adjustable for height. Please note that this vehicle does not replace the Ertiga.

The GL grade comes with machine-polished 15-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, LED taillamps,
daytime running lights, keyless entry with push-button start, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment
system with wireless Apple CarPlay, a reverse-view camera, automatic climate control (with
dedicated rear vents), cruise control and leather-and-cloth upholstery.

The Suzuki is available in 4 derivatives in the line-up, the XL6 is the familiar K15B 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine that produces 77 kW and 138 Nm torque. You get to choose between the 1.5-litre engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 1.5-litre engine with a 4-speed automatic. Both offer great fuel consumption with the manual claimed to return a combined cycle fuel consumption of 6 l/100km.
There are several new and unique colours and colour combinations available on the XL6. The colour choices include Celestial Blue, Grandeur Grey, Arctic White Pearlescent, and Splendid Silver.

On the GL, consumers also have the choice of Opulent Red and a unique new colour called Brave
Khaki Pearlescent. The GLX versions have the option of a two-tone colour scheme where Opulent
Red, Brave Khaki or Splendid Silver are matched with a Pearlescent Midnight Black roof colour.
These models also have side mirrors painted in the same Midnight Black colour.
